Welcome to The Quill Blog
Hi all and welcome to The Quill Blog. I’m Lisa Varty, owner of Quill Copywriting and Journalism, after years of working for others, I’ve chosen to set up my own business. I’m going to be honest and tell you it’s not an easy task, there are a few reasons that I’ve chosen to become a freelance journalist rather than work for a company and at times it does feel like I’ve bitten off more than I can chew but I’m also really excited about what lies ahead.
So, I guess you’re all wandering what it is exactly that I’ll be doing, well quite simply the same as I have always done but I’ll be my own boss. As well as working as a freelance journalist I’m offering my skills to businesses as a copywriter and of course writing my blog. Those of you that already know me know how much I love writing and the written word, sometimes this has gotten me into trouble as I do tend to write down my thoughts too and have been described by some has having no filter, but I see it has a good thing and one of the things that makes me, me.
In this blog I will write about subjects that are close to me such as disability rights and issues with accessibility, this will include me visiting venues, pubs and restaurants and reviewing their services, I also hope to change the publics perception of disability for the better, but I’ll write more about that in another post. I also love books and history; my favourite author is Anne Rice and I’m a Derby County Football Club supporter. I will also blog local and national news that I think will be of interest to the public.
